Those who have heart conditions should use their own discretion at attending as we do have some pretty good scares. And of course, those that are easily scared are always welcome but parents with young children need to use their own discretion at deciding if this is appropriate for their young child- we try to be as family friendly as possible but only the parent can make that decision for their child. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Where are you located? We are located on Maryland Sunrise Farm (known as The US Navy's former Naval Academy Dairy Farm) at 100 Dairy Lane, Gambrills, MD 21054. Please see our map above. Once you arrive on the farm, there will be a sign for parking. After parking, go across the road to the covered Pavillion. Tickets will be sold there. HAYRIDE AVAILABILITY Unfortunately the hayride may be limited in its availability although all efforts will be made to have an enjoyable hayride available for our patrons. Factors that affect the hayride include first and foremost, the safety of our patrons & our haunters. (1) The hayride may not be available in heavy downpours of rain although it may be available in lighter showers. (2) Our hayride trail is not a paved road but a pathway through the back woods of the farm in which the hayride for the haunt was designed. If the road is not safely passable, no hayride. Please remember that we are located on a working farm with fields not roads and most of the areas along the trail are not plowed but overgrown. We'll do our best to make sure that our patrons receive the best show possible but still get their hayride. Before buying my ticket, is there an age limitation? The haunted barns are not recommended for children under the age of 8. We also recommend that parents accompany children under the age of 10. Our haunt is meant to be scary but it's up to the parent to decide what is best for their own child. Children considered old enough to attend the event are charged the same as an adult since we are charging for the number of spaces in each tour. Please be advised that there are NO refunds once you have entered the event. Before buying my ticket, are there other limitations? Unfortunately, due to the design of the original dairy barns, there is limited handicap accessibility due to uneven flooring, narrow hallways, bumps, etc. We will do everything we can to accommodate anyone that needs handicap accessibility. We also recommend caution for those who suffer from asthma, epilepsy, heart conditions, PTSD, anxiety & phobia disorders, and other similar medical conditions. Our haunt is meant to be scary and we use various lighting & special effects to include strobe, black lighting & other lighting along with fog machines. In addition, there may be sudden loud sounds and noises which are meant to startle persons. How do I get tickets and discounts? Tickets will not be sold at the Ticket booth but at the Pavilion by the parking lot. Since we are only open 10 nights out of the entire year, we accept CASH ONLY!!! We do not accept credit cards and/or personal checks. We do not have an ATM on site but recommend that you stop at one of the many ATM's within a mile of the Farm. We are offering multiple ways that patrons can receive discounts to the event. Please see our discounts listed above and Showtimes for special discount nights. How much is parking? Parking is free. What should I bring? Please dress according to weather. The temperature drops quite rapidly in October once the sun sets. We have a weather report for our haunt location. The hayride is outdoors but the haunted barns are indoors. We recommend that you dress in layers and bring a coat as the hayride has been cold and windy. If it is raining, you may want to bring an umbrella since we will most likely still be open. What should I not bring? The Haunt at Sunrise Farm is located on the US Navy's former Naval Academy Dairy Farm and is subject to federal military installation regulations. Absolutely, no alcohol, drugs and/or illegal substances, and/or weapons are permitted on the installation. Smoking is not permitted on the hayride, in any of the building or in the barns. For the safety of our patrons, staff, volunteers and farm employees, we reserve the right to refuse to admit patrons who appear to be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, and/or any other substances and/or who may be creating a disturbance of any kind. What happens if I'm too scared and want to leave? With the exception of the hayride, if you need to leave, please let your tour guide know and he can make arrangements to escort you to the nearest exit. The hayride is 2 miles and out in the middle of the farm. In the event of an emergency, someone on the hayride will have a radio and can call for assistance. Please be advised that there are No Refunds. Does anyone touch you? Our performers are trained not to touch any of the patrons. Also, please do not touch the performers. What if I have a problem? Each group will have someone with a radio. Feel free to let your tour guide know if you are having difficulties of any kind. They can notify ahead that a particular group is extremely sensitive or if there's a problem in the group. Be advised that we have the right to refuse admittance and/or remove anyone from the premises that is belligerent, drunk and/or under the influence of drugs and/or other illegal substances and/or creates a disturbance in any way. No refunds will be given. How many people do you take at a time? On the hayride, we will take approximately 25-30 people. After the hayride, the group will be broken down into smaller groups of approximately 10 persons in order to maximize the experience of the haunted barns. One wagon leaves about every half hour. What are the lines like? During 2011, the lines have been longer at dusk and shorter after 9:30 pm. The hayride will be running approximately every 30 minutes depending on the lines. After the hayride, the group will be broken down into smaller groups and there will be another line in order to get into the barns. Patrons will have wristbands which will indicate which group they will be in. We will do everything we can to minimize the lines. We ask your patience and remind everyone that wherever you go, there will always be a line. We are a live-performance haunt and to maximize the experience for each group, every performance is individualized to a group of 8-10 patrons. We ask that you allow us to give our patrons before you the benefit of our best performance as we will also give that same quality of experience to you and your group and each subsequent group after you. How long does it take to complete the attraction? The 2-mile hayride is approximately 20 minutes and there may be a waiting period before going into the 1st barn. Depending on your group, it takes approximately 10-15 mins to tour each barn. Not to include waiting periods and depending on your group, it should take approximately 45-55 minutes. What happens if it rains? We are open HEAVY rain or shine. The hayride wagon is not operational in a downpour or persistent rain. However, the haunted barns are indoors and our patrons have found it more fun to go through them when it's raining. Except in a unrelenting torrential downpour, patrons can still tour the haunted barns. The full ticket price will be reduced to TBD (includes amusement tax) for the Haunted Barns. (No additional discounts/coupons will be accepted). Please note, we will only be closed if there is a unrelenting torrential downpour with no expectations of stopping after 8:00 pm. Closings will be posted on Haunt at Sunrise Farm Facebook page. I have a large group. Do I need to make reservations? 10+ groups can make a reservation if they contact us at hauntedsunrise@gmail.com. We need to know the name of the group, contact person & phone number, date, time of wagon you're requesting and number of people. If your group does not have reservations, we cannot guarantee that your group will be taken ahead of other patrons but we will do our best to schedule your group in coordination with the patrons already in line. Groups must have reservations in order to receive the group discount & must arrive and pay for the tickets no later than 30 minutes prior to their reserved wagon time. We do not require a deposit but ask that you contact us if your number changes or if you cancel your plans so that we do not continue to hold your spaces. Reserved seats will be released 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Groups still must pay in cash. Will you have food and concessions available? Boy Scout Troop 209 will be selling candy and sodas to our patrons to raise funds for their troop in the Pavilion. I loved what the Haunters are doing? How can I become one? Volunteer haunters are always welcome even after we have opened. Sorry, this year, we are no longer accepting applications from Volunteers under 18. Let your tour guide know that you are interested in volunteering and they will point you in the right direction. Some of our best haunters are former patrons.
